Share your Thanksgiving with an International Student
Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, food and fun. You can add to that by sharing your holiday with an international student.
Many of the students we serve have never experienced a Thanksgiving with an American family. Most have no idea about the history of the holiday. And they would love to experience it with you.
USA Homestays is pairing 1-3 students with families in the cities we serve for the holiday. We ask that you welcome the students into your home to experience Thanksgiving with your family. This would include the meal and whatever else you do. The time commitment will be around 2-3 hours, unless you want to go longer.
This year, Thanksgiving is Nov. 23. We will have a training session for host families before the holiday. We will go over some of the cultural items that might be pertinent as well as addressing any questions you will have. We will give you the names and contact information of your students on the Monday or Tuesday before Thanksgiving. More information will be coming to you from the local Homestay Director.
Transportation is often an issue with college students because many do not have cars. If you are willing to drive your students, please let us know. We will try to place you with students that live relatively close, but most students live near their campuses.
